Server Problem Interrupts Downloading ICSE Marks, Process To Resume Today | Calcutta News

Kolkata: The grades after the assessment of the ICSE Semester I papers could not be uploaded on Monday due to a server issue. At around 7:30 p.m., the CISCE sent a circular to school principals and asked them to close the assessment centers for the day and restart Tuesday at 8 a.m. because the online grade capture system was not working.
ICSE exams began Monday for more than 30,000 applicants across the state. Of these, around 7,000 students are in Kolkata. A similar situation occurred on November 22 when the ISC exams began.
The exam began at 10:50 am when the questions were distributed to the candidates. They started writing at 11 a.m. and finished at noon. The answers were sent at 1:30 p.m. and the examiners began their assessment. Most had completed their assessment by 6:30 p.m. and had started downloading when they found they couldn’t connect. Finally, the facilitators made a joint decision and wrote to the Council asking for help. The Council decided to close the centers for the day.
“It is likely that the Council will introduce a new evaluation system. The circular indicated this and we hope that this problem will be solved once and for all. Several examiners and supervisors fell ill, ”said an official who also wrote to the board requesting intervention. Another organizer suggested that the CISCE should switch to OMR sheets as this will automatically solve the problem. Currently, students are writing in answer books.
The ICSE started with the English article 1 on Monday. Today’s ISC math exam has been postponed to December 12. From Tuesday, the ICSE and ISC exams will take place simultaneously.
The students were happy with Monday’s newspaper. For many, it was their first day of school after 20 months. Rishon Sarkar of La Martiniere for Boys had been anxious before he got to school. But when he met his classmates there, he became free from all tension. Nileeni Mondal was stuck in Mombasa due to Covid but flew last week so she could take the exam at school. “I am so happy to be back at the school where I belong. Taking the exam from Kenya would not have been the same, ”she said.
The main articles of the CBSE Class X term-I start from Tuesday. Examinations for minor papers have been underway.
