*UPDATE* 21.51 DELAYED release date

Due to a scheduling conflict with the Dreamer Cup event, it appears that Update 21.51 has been delayed to Wednesday, September 7, 2022.

21.51 Fortnite Update

The update will be the last before the start of Season 4 and we can expect the update to arrive at the usual time of 1am PST / 4am EST / 9am BST.

Server downtime

One of the biggest questions regarding this latest update is whether or not there will be downtime when it is implemented in-game. Usually when a Fortnite update is done, the servers start shutting down about 30 minutes before the update goes live, with an additional downtime period of about two hours after the start.

The difference here is that for these updates the version number jumps by 10. Here it is only jumped by one, suggesting that the update may not be as big or require a downtime.

That being said, you should plan your games around the possibility of downtime anyway, as it is always an obvious possibility.

What to expect?

Perhaps the biggest thing to expect from this Fortnite update comes from an update to the Fortnite Nintendo eShop listing, as reported iFireMonkey. The image shows a hand emerging from a puddle of dark liquid and has a much less colorful tone than the current season.

This hand is a character redesign of The Paradigm, member of The Seven, who could potentially feature more prominently in this update after taking up more space in the back of the story. This could also be the setup for the end of the Season 3 event, although nothing has been confirmed yet.
