Despite uptick, NETN’s COVID rate still lower than a month ago | WJHL


NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WJHL) – Northeast Tennessee’s seven-case COVID-19 case rate rose slightly last week but remained lower than it was a month ago, new data shows. released Wednesday by the Tennessee Department of Health.

Between Sunday April 10 and Saturday April 16, the seven county area recorded 175 new cases, about 34% more than the 131 cases the previous week. A month earlier, the region averaged more than 200 cases per week.

Last week, Northeast Tennessee surpassed 150,000 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began. The region has accumulated 150,073 cases in total.

Red indicates high transmission (≥100), orange indicates high transmission (50-99.99), yellow indicates moderate transmission (10-49.99), and blue indicates low transmission (0-9 .99).


The number of coronavirus deaths in northeast Tennessee has increased by seven, but only three of those deaths occurred in the past week. The other four deaths occurred in previous weeks but were not reported to the state until last week.

NOTE: Deaths in recent months are underreported on the graph due to delays in reporting COVID-19 deaths to the state.

There have been 2,426 reported deaths in northeast Tennessee since the pandemic began.

There were 246 active cases reported in northeast Tennessee last Saturday, up from 211 from the previous Saturday.
