As of Friday, Delhi had recorded 813 new cases of COVID-19 with a positivity rate of 5.30% and three deaths.
It is the third day in a row that the number of daily cases is below 1,000.
With these new infections and deaths, the number of cases in Delhi rose to 19,36,365 and the death toll to 26,266, the health department bulletin said.
Saturday’s new cases came from 17,037 tests carried out the previous day, he said.
Delhi had reported 865 cases of COVID-19 on Thursday with a positivity rate of 4.45% and zero deaths.
The city recorded 1,109 cases on Wednesday with a 5.87% positivity rate and one death.
On Tuesday, the capital recorded 874 new cases of COVID-19 with a positivity rate of 5.18% and four deaths.
Of the 9,498 beds for COVID-19 patients in hospitals in Delhi, only 224 were occupied on Saturday, down from 239 a day ago. Beds in Covid Care Centers and Covid Health Centers are vacant, the bulletin said.
The number of active cases in Delhi stands at 3,410, up from 3,703 a day ago. As many as 2,534 patients are in home isolation, he said.
There are 385 containment zones in Delhi, he added.
Delhi reported a few cases of Omicron BA.4 and BA.5 variants, which are highly transmissible, but experts said there was no need to panic as they do not cause serious infection.
The number of daily COVID-19 cases in Delhi had hit a record high of 28,867 on January 13 during the third wave of the pandemic. The city had recorded a positivity rate of 30.6% on January 14, the highest in the third wave of the pandemic.
